Low-Cost/No-Cost Fitness

My workouts will primarily be Low-Cost/No-Cost (LCNC) routines to facilitate a cost effective means of staying fit.  My posted workouts will also help demonstrate that you do not need to have a gym membership in order to perform any of the exercises. There will be some exercises that you may not readily have available to you but I’ll comment on those and try to provide some alternatives.

Workout Focus and Goals

Although my workouts tend to be focused on improving my hiking fitness, this doesn’t mean you still can’t participate. You can still benefit from the posted workouts regardless of your specific focus and goals.  This may give you some additional ideas to add to or improve your current exercise regime and fitness goals.

In general, a side effect to my workouts will be improved cardiovascular fitness, enhanced leg strength and general physical endurance.  Some of the exercises will also work on exercising your mental coordination and balance.

I will experiment with new exercises within my routines to add some variety and trigger different stresses on the different muscle groups, as well as to evaluate what I like/dislike.  You will also notice that I perform my routines throughout the week and do not necessary have designated days that I workout certain muscle groups.  This is because calisthenics can generally be performed everyday without harm. Some workout intensities may need a day for rest and recovery but this will be based on your own judgment and fitness level.
